MONROE — A man convicted of a sex offense in 2023, Derek Larosh, 37, is facing jail or even a prison sentence after violating his parole for, among other things, attacking a woman.

Larosh is also alleged to have been caught with a methamphetamine pipe and other violations while on parole, including a drunken stop at a local saloon that netted him additional charges.

In June 2023, Larosh was sentenced to jail time and a significant fine for a misdemeanor conviction of fourth degree sexual assault, felony bail jumping and other charges.

“The Court orders a withheld sentence for a period of 3 years on count 2 (Felony Bail Jumping) (and) $1,000.00 cash bond to be applied to costs,” said the official court record notes.

He was given a one-year prison sentence but it was “stayed” by the court, records indicate. He was sentenced to two years of probation at that time, in addition to pay court costs and submit to any needed drug, alcohol, or mental health treatment.

Two cases were involved in the original plea deal.

“The defendant entered a plea of Guilty on counts 1 (bail jumping) and 3 (disorderly conduct),” said the ruling. “The Court finds the defendant Guilty on counts 1 and 3 and dismisses and reads in the remaining counts.” On count 3, the court requires him to spend 120 days in the county jail. The court, meanwhile, ordered a withheld sentence for a period of 3 years on count 1.

And then in December of 2024 came the alleged parole violations largely stemming from an incident in which he is alleged to have beaten up a woman in a domestic incident. He was also alleged to have been found at that time in possession of a methamphetamine pipe, and another with THC residue.

The report also indicated that for long stretches during his drug and sex offender treatment requirements, Larosh was a willing and engaged participant. He also worked during his probation at several jobs with major employers in the area.

If ordered by the court, Larosh faces a possible reinstatement of his original, multi-year prison sentences; or time in county jail. He also faces new charges for possession of drug paraphernalia and bail jumping.

“He was given the chance to remain in the community on probation supervision,” said the court documents, filed in support of revocation. “In the current violations, he violently harmed another person.”

A reportedly shirtless and shoeless Larosh allegedly grabbed and attempted to kiss a young victim who was waiting for her ride outside an Albany bar on July 7, 2022, knocking her down.

He was arrested a short time later.

Larosh had previously been charged with sex assault but was found not guilty. After a three-day trial in 2017, Larosh, then 29, and living at that time in Rock Springs, was found not guilty on two Class C felony counts of second-degree sexual assault of an unconscious victim and through the use of force; and four misdemeanor counts of bail jumping.
