Engineering Supervisor, City of Monroe
During the week of June 6, Dane County Contracting continued with the installation of 10-inch sanitary sewer main between 16th and 18th Avenue. They installed 340 feet of 10-inch sewer main, and three new sanitary sewer manholes ranging in depth from 5 to 11 feet. New water and sewer services were reconnected to the new mains and replaced to the property line between 15th and 18th Avenue.
Rock Road Companies continued with the installation of 15-inch, and 12-inch concrete storm sewer lateral pipe at 11th Avenue and 14th Avenue. They installed about 153 feet of storm sewer. Rock Road also continued with concrete pavement removal from 17th Avenue to 18th Avenue. The bridge contractor, Edward Kraemer & Sons, continued with the installation of the last three piles for the new bridge foundation and braced the piles for support while the excavation is being completed for retaining wall work adjacent to the bridge piles. Kraemer also installed temporary shoring next to buildings that are located close the right of way at 10th Avenue. Voegeli landscaping started constructing the South retaining wall from 8th Avenue to the bridge. E & N Hughes Company relocated a sanitary sewer service and water service on the north side of 8th Street by the bridge to eliminate conflict with the retaining wall installation. Next week, Dane County Contracting will continue with sanitary sewer installation along 9th Street from 18th Avenue to 20th Avenue. They will install sanitary sewer services up to the property line (back of sidewalk) and reconnect water services up to the terrace as they work down the street towards 20th Avenue. Once the new water services are connected, the final connection of the new water main will be completed at the Avenue intersections abandoning the old water main in 9th Street.
Next week, Rock Road Companies will continue with storm sewer main line installation between 18th Avenue and 19th Avenue. They will also continue with concrete pavement removal from 14th Avenue to 20th Avenue. After the concrete is removed the grading crew will go back and continue with the placement of the street base from 12th Avenue to 20th Avenue to join up with the storm sewer crew. The bridge contractor, Edward Kraemer & Sons, will complete pile installation for the foundation of the new bridge and start preparing for the construction of the concrete bridge abutments. Voegeli Landscaping will continue working on retaining wall installation at the new bridge location.
All intersections will remain open for cross traffic the majority of the time, except when they have to install utilities through the intersection. The intersections will be completely barricaded when this is. Otherwise the barricades will be offset to allow for cross traffic.
