MONROE - Wisconsin's Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week is April 15 through 19.

The National Weather Service will conduct a statewide tornado drill on Thursday, April 18. A mock tornado watch will be issued at 1 p.m. and a mock tornado warning at 1:45 p.m. Wisconsin broadcast radio, TV and cable channels will also be participating. This drill will also test your emergency weather radio (also known as a NOAA weather radio).

Green County Emergency Management suggests that every home have a NOAA weather radio. These radios are activated automatically - day or night - by the National Weather Service, to alert you to weather watches and warnings. Apps for cell phones are also available and can be alerted anywhere.

Be alert for additional weather watches or warnings that may be broadcast.

Make sure everyone in the home knows where the safest place to take shelter is. Seek shelter in a basement, interior hallway, closet or bathroom.
