MONROE - School and village boards in Green and Lafayette counties have several contested races on deck for the spring election. Elections will be held on April 7, with some villages and schools holding caucuses this month.
Juda Schools and the Brodhead City Council did not respond to phone calls and emails concerning the spring elections before publication time.
Green County
Village of Albany Board: All four seats are open and uncontested for the Village of Albany Board. Current president Kim Blumer is seeking re-election for her seat. Incumbents Peggy Boeck, Virginia Detra and Eileen Althaus are seeking re-election for trustee seats. The caucus is on Monday.
Albany Schools: Two Albany School Board seats are open with four candidates running. Incumbents Adam R. Kopp and Andy Knauf are seeking to keep their seats, while challengers Philip Kubesh and Sherri K. Cleasby are looking to gain the open seats.
Monticello Village Board: Four seats are open and uncontested for the Monticello Village Board, including the president's seat and three trustee seats. President LaVerne Crooks is seeking re-election, and incumbents William Loveland, Teresa Dunlap and Laura Curry are also seeking re-election. The caucus was held Wednesday.
Monticello Schools: Monticello School Board has three seats open with three incumbents and one newcomer running. Incumbents Ron Blumer, Julie Havens and Robert Harvey look to keep their seats, and challenger Tyler Smith is looking to gain one of the seats.
Village Board of New Glarus: Three trustee positions and the village president are up for election with each seat contested. Incumbent president Roger Truttman is seeking re-election against newcomer Greg Thoemke. Incumbents for the trustee positions, Peggy Kruse, Mark Janowiak and Eric Gobeli, will be up against challengers Tammy Newberry, Barbara Anderson and Ben Kahl.
New Glarus Schools: Two positions are open for the school board with one incumbent and two newcomers. Incumbent Ellyn Runde is seeking re-election and newcomers Kari Morrison and Debra Fairbanks are also seeking election. Incumbent Gail Anderson chose not to run for re-election. The top two candidates with the most votes will fill the two vacant positions.
Browntown: The president's seat and two trustee seats are open with three incumbents running for re-election in an uncontested race. Incumbent president Joan Pickett looks to keep her seat and trustee incumbents Jerry Wells and David Plath Jr. look to be re-elected as well.
City of Brodhead Schools: The Brodhead School Board has two available seats with one incumbent and two newcomers running. Incumbent Mike Krupke is running for re-election against newcomers David Wickline and Abbey Wellemeyer. The two candidates with the most votes will gain a seat. Incumbent Teresa Earleywine chose not to run.

Village Board of South Wayne: The president's seat and two trustee seats are open and uncontested. Incumbent president Melodie Hawkings looks to be re-elected as do incumbents Al Melland and Summer Stietz.
Black Hawk Schools: The Black Hawk School Board has three seats open with two incumbents running for re-election. Incumbents Jason Figi and Kerry Holland seek to be re-elected and incumbent Chuck Herbst has filed a Notification of Non-Candidacy.
Argyle Village Board: Three trustee seats are open with three incumbents running uncontested. Incumbents Bradley Otsby, David Soper and Brenda Bredeson all seek re-election. A caucus will be held on Tuesday.
