MONROE - The search is on for a new principal at Monroe High School.
Mark Burandt, the current principal at MHS, submitted his resignation last month. His resignation is effective June 30.
Superintendent Larry Brown told school board members Monday the district has received about 30 applications for the position so far. "It's going well," he said of the search process.
The district will continue to accept applications for the position until March 19, according to the district's timeline for the search process. From those applicants, the top four to six candidates will be contacted for interviews. Those interviews with an advisory and administrative team are scheduled for March 30.
The finalist from that process will then be scheduled to interview with the school board April 12, according to the timeline.
The job posting for the position states the district is seeking "a student- and staff-centered administrator with exemplary management and leadership skill." The candidate should have the "ability to foster a professional learning community and engage staff in creating a positive and dynamic learning environment that is focused on student achievement."
Burandt has been principal for five years. A Brodhead High School graduate, he served as assistant principal at Fond du Lac High School before coming to Monroe. He cited personal reasons for his decision to resign, but declined to elaborate on his future plans.
