MONROE — Authorities in Iowa County and the town of Blanchardville continued searching late Monday for a man who on the previous day led officers on a chase before apparently crashing his motorcycle and fleeing on foot.
Authorities declined to name the suspect involved but Blanchardville Police issued a short statement from officer-in-charge Kaivon Souri.
“We did not catch him. We identified him and are referring the charges,” said Souri. “I am referring criminal charges on Monday to the Iowa County District Attorney’s office for review.”
According to unconfirmed reports, the suspect eluded police before crashing on McKenzie Lane and at one point, a drone was brought to the scene to help in the search.
Information on the pursuit first came to light in social media posts from the Lafayette County area and then a general description was relayed to Iowa County’s official Facebook followers: “Police are looking for a white male w/beard, on foot, wearing black leather in the Moscow Rd & McKenzie area. If seen, call 608-930-9500, option 2.”
Police are urging anyone who sees anything suspicious to contact them. The incident remains under investigation.
