MONROE - The City of Monroe Street and Sanitation Department with the cooperation of Boy Scout Troops 115, 101, and 180 are having a Yard Waste Drop Off Day from 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 13.

Monroe residents who pay a quarterly refuse and recycling fee may bring their bagged and/or bundled yard waste to the Street Department at 1064 Fifth Ave. one Saturday per month free of charge.

This will be done on a trial basis for this summer.

Continuation of this program in the future will be determined by public participation and outside cooperation.

Curbside collection rules apply. Yard waste must be bagged weighing no more than 60 pounds and/or bundled in 4-foot lengths weighing no more than 60 pounds.

Loose material will not be accepted. Residents wishing to keep their emptied bags may do so.

Weekly curbside collection will still be provided for yard waste bags or bundles with stickers.
