EAU CLAIRE - Sen. Dale Schultz, R-Richland Center, was one of three recipients of the very first "Friend of the Family Farmer" award that was presented at the 2013 Wisconsin Farmers Union annual convention.
The award is meant to recognize individuals for their work on behalf of farmers and rural residents all over the state.
Schultz represents Wisconsin's 17th Senate District, covering southwest Wisconsin.
Schultz served as the chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee during the 2011-12 legislative session. He showed willingness to work across party lines to address some of the most important issues facing the state, most notably in his work on the metallic mining bill, according to the Wisconsin Farmers Union.
