MONROE — Roth Cheese, a leader in specialty cheese and a World Champion Cheesemaker received five Bronze awards last week for their Wisconsin-made cheeses at the 2025 World Cheese Awards in Switzerland.

“Winning five medals on the world stage is a tremendous honor and a testament to the talent and passion of our cheesemakers and supporting teams,” said Hyder Raheem, Managing Director at Emmi Roth, the parent company of Roth Cheese. “Their dedication to crafting exceptional cheeses is at the heart of everything we do, and this recognition reinforces the pride we take in every wheel that carries the Roth name.”

About Roth Cheese’s Award-Winning Cheeses

Roth Canela is an award-winning American Original cheese named after the Spanish word for “Cinnamon.” This Spanish-inspired, limited-production cheese is made with fresh, Wisconsin Cow’s milk then hand-rubbed with a cinnamon and paprika blend to give it the signature reddish-orange rind and sweet flavor.

Roth Gorgonzola is an Italian-style blue and is aged 3-plus months for a full earthy flavor and pillowy texture. Inspired by the delicious cheeses of Italy, this buttermilk gorgonzola has an assertively piquant flavor and complex, peppery finish.

Roth Grand Cru Reserve is handcrafted in some of the finest and largest copper vats in the country. They hand-select wheels of Original Grand Cru for 6-plus months of aging in cellars, resulting in a crowd-pleasing Reserve. It’s wildly awarded for its bold and savory taste, and rightfully so.

Roth Grand Cru Surchoix is handmade in traditional copper vats and aged in cellars under the careful watch of cellarmasters. This washed-rind Alpine-style cheese is aged a minimum of 9 months to create a firm texture and complex flavors of caramel, fruit, and mushroom. Grand Cru Surchoix was named the 2016 World Champion, winning among 3,000 entries and marking the first time an American-made cheese won the cheese competition in nearly three decades. No domestically produced cheese has achieved such honors since.

Roth Pavino is an American Original cheese from Roth cellars. Inspired by Swiss heritage and tradition of creating the world’s best alpine-style cheese, Pavino is crafted by award-winning cheesemakers and cured for at least nine months. It boasts a complex, yet balanced, flavor of nutty, sweet milk accompanied by an earthy depth.

Roth cheeses can be found in local grocer’s deli case, in fine cheese shops throughout the U.S. and online via Instacart and Goldbelly. Consumers interested in trying these award-winning cheeses are encouraged to use the Roth Cheese store locator on rothcheese.com.

Submissions for the World Cheese Awards are judged on a single day by carefully composed teams of technical experts, buyers, retailers and food authors. Judges look at the rind and the body of the cheese, color, texture, consistency and taste. A full list of this year’s winners is available online.
