MONROE - A Freeport man charged with robbing two men at gunpoint in a Monroe park had a plea of not guilty entered on his behalf Tuesday in Green County Circuit Court.
Keandre Khyri Euell, 21, was charged with armed robbery, a Class C felony, after an incident in August 2014 when he allegedly stole a wallet, two cellphones and marijuana from two men in Recreation Park in Monroe. Euell was alleged to have been armed with a semi-automatic handgun.
Euell's attorney, Jane Bucher, said Euell chose to stand mute on his charges, so the court entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf.
Euell also faces charges of false imprisonment, theft and bail jumping after a series of events throughout early 2014.
On Feb. 3, 2014, Euell was accused of preventing his then-girlfriend from leaving a bedroom and verbally abusing her. When police officers arrived to restrain him, Euell refused to allow them to handcuff him.
Then, on Feb. 20, Euell allegedly stole $110 from a man who offered to buy an air pistol from Euell. According to a police report, the buyer showed the money to Euell, who seized the cash and left without providing the air pistol.
Finally, Euell failed to appear in court on March 6, which violated the terms of his bond from the theft charge.
The maximum sentence for a Class C felony is 25 years in prison or a $100,000 fine.
Euell will next appear in court on May 17 for a pre-trial conference.
