MONROE - Two sections of the roof on Parkside Elementary School are set to be replaced this summer.
Work on the roof will begin near the end of the current school year with the hope of finishing by the end of June, said Ron Olson, the district's business manager.
The Monroe school board accepted a bid Monday by Custofoam Corporation to install the east and west sections of the school's roof at a cost of $144,400, which will be paid by referendum funds. Custofoam installed other sections of the roof in 2015.
Olson said the Parkside roof project was included in the budget at an estimated $180,000.
School board candidate Cheryl McGuire and her husband attended the school board meeting Monday as members of the public. McGuire said she wanted to get a feel for the meetings ahead of the April 4 election.
