MADISON - State Representative Janis Ringhand (D-Evansville) was one of 37 lawmakers chosen to participate in an annual training program that identifies and assists promising state leaders in the Midwest.
Ringhand will meet with fellow lawmakers from Wisconsin, 10 other Midwestern states and four Canadian provinces from Aug. 9 through Aug. 13 in Madison, for the 19th annual Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development.
A program of The Council of State Governments' Midwestern Office, BILLD is held in partnership with the University of Wisconsin's Robert M. La Follette School of Public Affairs. Courses and seminars are conducted by La Follette faculty, Midwestern legislative leaders and professional development experts. In addition to courses designed to develop leadership skills, the program analyzes a variety of public policy issues including education and health care.
"This is only my second term in the State Assembly, but from serving as the Caucus Secretary to participating in a new member mentorship program, I am working hard at taking on a more active role in the Legislature," Ringhand said. "I am absolutely thrilled and honored to have been accepted to this program. I look forward to attending and I know it will help me continue to best serve my constituents."
