MADISON — Representative Jenna Jacobson (D-Oregon) released a statement in support of the budget proposal announced by State Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Jill Underly.

“All children in Wisconsin should have access to a quality, public education,” Rep. Jacobson said. “For too long the state has been underfunding public education, forcing schools across our district and Wisconsin to rely on increasing property taxes to maintain operations.

“Dr. Underly has laid out a plan to increase state funding for special education to 90% of the cost over two years. This would put money back into the general funds of school districts and reduce the need to increase property taxes by referendum.

“Dr. Underly’s plan also funds retaining teachers, implementing literacy initiatives, youth mental health needs, and provides healthy meals for kids to help them learn. This budget has so many pieces that reflect the priorities I have heard across our district.”

Jacobson announces in-district office hours

Representative Jenna Jacobson (D-Oregon) resumes in-district office hours starting Nov. 22.

Rep. Jacobson will be in Monroe from 12-2 p.m. on Nov. 22 at Payne’s Family CoffeeHaus & OddiTeas in Monroe, and at Kickback Café from 12-2 p.m. on Dec. 11 in Oregon.

“These events are free and open to the public, and I encourage people to stop by,” Jacobson said.

“In-district office hours provide important opportunities for face-to-face conversations. However, residents of Assembly District 50 should always feel free to reach out to my office anytime by email at Rep.Jacobson@legis.wisconsin.gov, or by phone at (608) 237-9143. More in-district office hours will be held in 2025, so look for an event near you.”
