MADISON — Representative Jenna Jacobson (D-Oregon) is pleased with the passing and signing signing into law of postpartum Medicaid expansion and Gail’s Law.
Postpartum Medicaid expansion ensures that moms will have coverage for the first year after having a child. Gail’s Law, named after Gail Zeamer, requires coverage for preventative breast cancer screenings for Wisconsin women with dense breast tissue.
“After many years of fighting for women to have better healthcare, Wisconsin women around the state deserve this victory,” Jacobson said. “These bills will save lives. It is our duty as legislators to get healthcare to the ones who need it most, and to fight for the issues that have had overwhelming support across the state for over a decade.
“This is a huge victory for women’s healthcare and for families in every corner of our state.
“To every Wisconsinite who has reached out to legislators over the years, this victory is yours. Your calls, emails, and postcards are why these bills are now law. Let’s keep moving Wisconsin forward.”
