Registration underway for Park and Rec programs

MONROE - The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department is taking registrations for spring and summer programs.

Register at the Parks and Rec office, 1110 18th Ave. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

n Spring Kickball/ Dodgeball: 3:30 to 4:45, Tuesdays, May 3-31 at Monroe Middle School field. This program is for first- to fifth-graders and teams will be divided by grades. Cost is $13 for residents and $23 for non-residents. Instructors are John Lehan and Bryan Tordoff.

n Bean Bag Rock and Shakin' the Chute: This program is for boys and girls ages 3 to 6. it meets from 5 to 5:40 p.m. Sunday from May 1 to July 31 at the Community Center. This dance class will help children learn concepts such as body identification, high/low, right/left, and up/down while promoting coordination and following directions while rocking to the music with bean bags and parachute.

n Pretty, Pretty Princess Ballet: This dance class is for ages 3 to 6 and meets from 5:45 to 6:25 p.m. Sundays from May 1-July 31 at the Community Center. Girls will be learning ballet dance positions and progressions across the floor while looking like princesses.

n Children's Jazz: This program is for boys and girls 6 to 9 years old. It will meet from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Sundays from May 1 to July 31 at the Community Center. Basic jazz patterns and rhythmics will be introduced in a lively setting for the beginning jazz dancer.

All dance classes are $36 for residents and $46 for non-residents.
