MONROE - Manufacturers' Day is a day set aside to celebrate modern manufacturing as well as inspire the next generation of manufacturers in the United States. In celebration of this day, QPS Employment Group is hosting an Open Interview Day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 6 at each of its 50 Midwest branch offices. According to a Bureau of Labor Statistics report released in September, there are 6.2 million job openings nationwide. The August national unemployment rate was listed at 4.4 percent, with many areas in the Midwest seeing even lower rates than that. The U.S. unemployment rate steadily has declined over the past eight years since it reached 10 percent in October of 2009. Every day 10,000 baby boomers retire and will continue to do so for the next 13 years. Many of these boomers currently fill skilled manufacturing positions.
