Program to honor Vietnam era vets planned for Oct. 4

MONROE - The Behring Senior Center has received a grant from the Clifford and Dorothy Reasa Charitable Fund of the Monroe Fund, a component of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin Inc. to support "A Salute to Vietnam Era Veterans" in October.

The program will honor all veterans who served during that era, as well as tribute to the seven men from Green County who lost their lives in the Vietnam war. Veterans were Kris Blumer, John Thomas Krebs, Roger Ritschard, Marvin Pederson, Kenneth Lee Keller, Ronald Schmid and David Timm. A special exhibit by Army war photographer Pete Finnegan will be on display. Speakers will include Pete Finnegan, Junior Robertson, Steve Saunders, family member Kay Kreb and Green County Veterans Services. The program will also include a special video tribute.

The event will be Oct. 4 at Monroe High School. The event is open to the public. Exhibits will be available for viewing from noon to 1:30 p.m. The program begins at 1:3 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

The grant is made available from the Community Foundation's Clifford and Dorothy Reasa Charitable Fund of The Monroe Fund. Grants in the past have supported the arts, education, environment, health and human services and historic preservation.
