MONROE - Almost a quarter of Green County voters went to the polls Tuesday to vote in state and local elections.

There were 4,827 votes cast in Green County. There are 20,790 registered voters in the county and 27,635 eligible voters in the county. Voter turnout in Green County was about 23 percent of registered voters and about 17 percent of eligible voters.

There were three uncontested races for Green County offices.

Green County Chief Deputy Jeff Skatrud, running for sheriff on the Democratic ticket, received 1,033 votes, or about 99.5 percent of the vote. There were five write-in votes. Green County Sheriff Randy Roderick is not seeking another term.

Carol Thompson, Green County clerk of courts, received 2,306 votes, or about 99.5 percent of the vote. There were 10 write-in votes.

Kristen M. Hasse, Green County deputy coroner, received 2,237 votes, or about 99.6 percent of the vote. Green County Coroner Jan Perry decided not to seek another term.

There was a contested primary on the Republican ticket for the 27th Senate District. In Green County, Kurt Schlicht received 939 votes, Tony Wickersham received 707 votes and Tom Lamberson received 667 votes. The winner of the primary will face-off against incumbent Jon Erpenbach, D-Waunakee, Nov. 2. Erpenbach was unopposed in the Democratic primary.

In the 2nd Congressional District Republican primary, Peter Theron received 1,462 votes in Green County, compared to 1,169 for Chad Lee. Incumbent Tammy Baldwin, D-Madison, was unopposed in the Democratic primary.

In the Republican primary for governor, Green County residents voted 1,558 for Mark Neumann to 1,465 for Scott Walker. Scott Paterick received 88 votes.

In the Republican primary for lieutenant governor, Brett Davis, who represents Green County in the 80th Assembly District, received 2,801 votes to 216 for Rebecca Kleefisch, 112 for Dave Ross, 102 for Nick Voegeli and 61 for Robert Lorge.

Ron Johnson received the majority of votes in the Green County Republican primary for United States Senate. Johnson received 2,452 votes to 445 for Dave Westlake and 152 for Stephen Finn.

On the Democratic ticket for governor, Tom Barrett received 1,053 votes to 108 for Tim John in Green County.

In the Green County Democratic primary for lieutenant governor, Tom Nelson received 603 votes to 176 for James Schneider, 160 for Spencer Coggs and 93 for Henry Sanders.
