MONROE - Two incumbents and a newcomer were elected to the Monroe School Board Tuesday.

Incumbent school board members Larry Eakins and Laurie Genz Prien were re-elected. Challenger Michael Boehme was also elected in the four-way contest for three school board seats. Incumbent board member Dr. Mary Frantz didn't get re-elected.

Boehme received the most votes, 2,650, for 26.74 percent of the votes cast. Genz Prien received 2,602 votes, 26.26 percent, and Eakins received 2,478 votes or 25.01 percent.

Superintendent Larry Brown praised Frantz's commitment to children.

"Mary is one of those individuals who has been an advocate for kids and our community," Brown said. "I don't think anyone has been a better advocate for quality education than Mary Frantz."
