Police seek suspect in Brodhead armed robbery

BRODHEAD - Police are seeking a suspect in an armed robbery at County Line Beverage in Brodhead Thursday night.

Deputies from the Rock County Sheriff's Office, along with officers from the Brodhead Police Department, were dispatched to County Line Beverage, 4141 South County T, Brodhead, for a report of an armed robbery at 8:57 p.m. Thursday, Rock County sheriff officials said in a news release Friday morning.

The victim, who was the lone clerk at the liquor store, told police a masked man entered the store, displayed a black semi-automatic handgun, and demanded money from the cash register, according to the news release. The clerk complied with the suspect's demands and gave the suspect an unknown amount of cash from the register. The suspect also demanded a cordless phone that was on the counter. After the suspect left the store in a southwesterly direction, the clerk called 911 to report the crime.

Officers and deputies arrived on the scene within minutes of the call and two Rock County Sheriff's Office K-9 units arrived in an attempt to track the suspect, but the track or scent proved inadequate.

The suspect is described as a male, unknown race, approximately 5 foot, 10 inches tall with a larger build. The suspect was wearing a dark blue or black zip-up sweatshirt with the hood pulled tightly around his face, and a dark red mask covering his face. The suspect was also wearing gray gloves with black palms, dark pants and dark shoes with white trim.
