MONROE - Police are seeking information about a small explosion they believe was some type of fireworks that caused minor damage to the exterior of a Monroe building Saturday night.
Monroe police and fire departments were called to the 2800 block of 6th Avenue just before 10 p.m. Saturday for reports of a loud explosion. They found "some sort of small explosive device exploded," causing damage to the ground and also minor damage to the side of a residential building, Police Chief Fred Kelley said in a press release.
After a preliminary investigation, police believe that the device is some type of fireworks, Kelley said.
A vehicle was seen leaving the area south of the location. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Monroe police at 608-329-2400 or Green County Crimestoppers at I-800-IC-CRIME.
