Police seek info on 911 caller with bomb threat

DAKOTA — Authorities are seeking information on an unknown 911 caller in Stephenson County who said he had bombs and guns and was going to kill everyone at Berner Foods Tuesday, Jan. 28.

The Dakota factory, located about five miles south of the Illinois/Wisconsin border, was evacuated and locked down as a precaution but no threat or explosive devices were found, according to the Stephenson County Sheriff's Office.

The 911 call to the Freeport Police Department came at about 5 p.m. from a caller described only as a Spanish-speaking male. His identity was still unknown to police several hours later.

The sheriff's office is asking anyone with information on the identity of the 911 caller to call dispatch at 815-235-8252 or Stateline Area Crime Stoppers at 877-TIPS-NOW or submit a tip online at statelineareacrimestoppers.com.
