Police: Don't forget laws, road closings at Monticello homecoming

MONTICELLO - With the Monticello homecoming festivities being held July 10-13, the Monticello Police Department is reminding those who attend the events of some laws and road closings.

All alcoholic beverages must be consumed within the licensed establishments and permitted areas of the park only. Those found to be consuming or possessing alcohol outside of those areas will be cited for the violation forfeiture of $200.50 per offense.

The municipal parking lot will be closed for general parking effective at 12:01 a.m. July 7 through July 14 for the carnival set up and tear down.

Parking is limited and will be marked accordingly for enforcement.

No parking zones are necessary to ensure safety of pedestrians and visitors for the homecoming festival.

Posted temporary/no parking zones and enforcement start at $25 per offense and can be towed at the owner's expense.

West Lake Avenue/County F from Main Street/South Wisconsin 69 will be closed at 9:30 p.m. during the fireworks display on July 12. The rain delay will be on Sunday night.

The west side of North Avenue/Kennedy Street, by the swimming pool, will be closed temporarily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 12 for the Kids Pedal Tractor pulling, and for the local water fights starting at 2 p.m.

North Monroe Street, from North Avenue to Gempeler Market's north alley way, will be closed down from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 12 for Motorcycle Pride Ride. Parking for motorcycles only will be available after their return trip at 5 p.m. No other vehicles will be allowed to park in the area during the temporary closing.

The Parade Route will be closed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 13. East Lake Avenue/County F, from Adams Road west and North Main Street, will be closed to all parking and will reopen safely after the parade, which starts at 2 p.m. All parade units will line up at the far east side of Lake Street at the Industrial Park area and will end there.
