MONROE - Local restaurants and residents are doing their part to help the family of Jeffrey R. Sullivan, 37, who died in a house fire Sunday morning in Monroe.

A daughter, Julia Sullivan, 16, suffered burns over half her body and is being treated at University of Wisconsin Hospital. Jeff's wife, Ruth, 35, and other children, David, 13 and Levi, 12, were not injured in the fire.

The home was severely damaged.

To help the family, McDonald's, where Sullivan was the area supervisor for five stores, will host the Jeff Sullivan Memorial Benefit on Tuesday, April 1.

Kris Oudinot, owner of the stores, said McDonald's will donate to the family a percentage of its sales Monday at all five stores - in Monroe, Brodhead, Darlington, Evansville and Stockton, Ill.

Pizza Hut in Monroe, where Sullivan worked for 19 years, has donation boxes set up at Kwik Trip, Stop 'N' Go, Subway, Juda Oasis, Garden Deli and Suisse Haus.

Store manager Linda Burkhalter said the owners of Pizza Hut in Monroe may pay for the memorial lunch for Sullivan. She said the store also may host a spaghetti supper fundraiser for the family in about a month.

Ruth Sullivan has set up a memorial fund at Associated Bank. Donations to the "For the Benefit of the Sullivan Family" fund can be made at the Monroe Associated Bank or any of its branches in Madison.

Monroe Clinic Chaplain Tom Chopp said Monroe High School is collecting money for the family. Also, "a shower of greeting cards," have been collected for Julia, who is being treated at the UW Hospital's Burn Unit.

Multiple services are planned in Sullivan's memory.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 30, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Monroe. A visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at the Kingdom Hall.

Beginning at 4 p.m., Saturday, April 5, there will be a memorial service at Turner Hall in Monroe.
