DARLINGTON — A 23-year-old Platteville man has been sentenced on child sexual assault charges.

On Aug. 29, 2023, Darlington police arrested Alexander Ortez-Martinez in a Washington Street residence after an investigation into a relationship he was having with a 13-year-old girl. Ortiz-Martinez was charged with at repeated acts of sexual assault of the same child.

On May 7, 2025, he entered a guilty plea to Judge Jane Bucher. Earlier this month he was sentenced to 5 years in state prison — with 687 days credit — with 5 years extended supervision. Ortez-Martinez will have to comply with the state’s sex offender registration, and will not be able to have any direct or indirect contact with anyone under the age of 18 without approval from a state agent. He also is not allowed to have any contact with the victim or their family unless approved by the state agent.

Ortez-Martinez is incarcerated at the Dodge Correctional Facility in Waupun.
