SPRING GROVE TOWNSHIP - A Monroe man suffered a head injury after a pickup truck's bed cover went airborne due to high winds and smashed through his windshield Monday afternoon.
Jamie J. Muniz, 26, Monroe, was westbound in the W2300 block of Wisconsin 11/81 in Spring Grove Township when a three-foot long support bar from the cover entered the vehicle and struck Muniz in the head, according to a news release from the Green County Sheriff's Department. The cover became dislodged from an eastbound vehicle driven by Melissa M. Fischer, 45, South Beloit.
Muniz was transported via EMS for medical treatment. His vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene.
Fischer's vehicle was undamaged and driven from the scene.
