MONROE - Although Election Day is less than two months away, people unsatisfied with the candidates representing the two major political parties have several alternative choices.

Monroe Times reporter Michael Brestovansky investigated Parkside Elementary School in Monroe and found several potential candidates in the school's kindergarten and first-grade classes. The candidates outlined their understanding of the responsibilities of the commander in chief and what they would do if elected.



Alex Klassy

Presidential responsibilities: "The president gets to get slimed. Like, he gets to be covered in slime."

Platform: "I would get to eat pizza every day."



Cailie Bradt

Presidential responsibilities: "He has to sign papers all the time."

Platform: "I would send kids to go and sign papers for me."



Azaria Hartwig

Presidential responsibilities: "He does stuff in an office."

Platform: "Nothing."

Thoughts on current president: "He's nice. I think his name is Mrs. Paradis." (Mr. Paradis is principal at Parkside.)



Nathan Kundert

Presidential responsibilities: "He sends us important messages."

Platform: "I would give kids papers to do and then take those papers and give them to people who need them. I would eat McDonalds every day."



Harper Kloepping

Presidential responsibilities: "He works."

Platform: Unknown.



Ella Disch

Presidential responsibilities: "His job is to make the state run better."

Thoughts on current president: "My mom told me her name's Obama."
