TOWN OF CLARNO — A Monroe driver had been drinking prior to colliding with downed power lines in the road, injuring himself and his passenger early Oct. 17, according to the Green County Sheriff’s Office.

Joshua W. Golackson, 37, faces a felony fourth-offense charge of operating while under the influence of alcohol. He’s also charged in Green County Circuit Court with causing injury by intoxicated use of a vehicle, a Class F felony.

Deputies were dispatched at 4:25 a.m. to the crash in the N1400 block of Bethel Road, Town of Clarno.

Investigation revealed Golackson was westbound when he struck power lines that were in the road from a prior hit-and-run crash.

Golackson’s vehicle overturned and came to rest in the road. He and a passenger were transported by Green County EMS for treatment of their injuries.

The severely damaged vehicle was towed. Golackson was jailed pending court. Monroe police and the Monroe Fire Department assisted on scene.

The hit-and-run crash that downed the power lines remains under investigation.

Golackson has three OWI convictions on his record. For his most recent, in 2011, court records show Judge James Beer sentenced him to 14 days in jail and two years on probation.
