MONROE — A struggle over a knife led to a stabbing at an apartment complex over the weekend, with one man treated for injuries and another arrested, according to a release from the Monroe Police Department.
Joseph R. Luethje, 24, Monroe, was arrested and jailed on charges of second-degree recklessly endangering safety and disorderly conduct while armed.
The victim, a 37-year-old Monroe man, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken by Green County EMS to Monroe Clinic, where he was treated for his injuries and released.
Police were called at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, March 9, to investigate a stabbing that had occurred that evening in an apartment in the 1700 block of 30th Street.
The investigation found that Luethje and his girlfriend, both residents, were arguing when he brandished a knife and threatened self-harm.
The victim, a resident of another apartment in the complex, tried to intervene and take the knife away from Luethje. In the ensuing struggle, the victim was stabbed.
Both men were intoxicated, according to the release.
State court records show no criminal history for Luethje in Wisconsin.
