MONROE - The search for a Darlington schools superintendent continues to progress. The school district's Search Committee met Monday night to review one candidate for the position.

According to Superintendent Joe Galle, who is retiring at the end of the school year, the meeting last night "just happened to be an open day" for the review of one candidate.

"They haven't made a decision yet," Galle said of the committee.

Galle said the regular school board meeting at 8 p.m. May 5 will present the board with the opportunity to discuss the candidates and possibly make a decision.

Four candidates are being considered for the position:

• Linda Erickson, curriculum supervisor in Darlington.

• Gordon Geurink, interim superintendent at Cochrane-Fountain City.

• Christopher Nelson, superintendent at Rice Lake.

• Christopher Thomalla, superintendent of Elcho school district.
