BROWNTOWN - A fire late Thursday morning destroyed an unused two-story milking barn at N4510 Trotter Road in the Town of Jordan, north of Browntown.

About 37 firefighters from Browntown, Blanchardville, Argyle, Wiota, Woodford and Monroe, along with Argyle EMS personnel, responded.

No one was injured in the fire.

According to Browntown Fire Captain Brad Kaster, the building was fully engulfed when the call came in at about 11 a.m. Firefighters were on the scene until about 2:30 p.m.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The fire was "pretty much under control" at 12:10 p.m., Kaster said

Kaster said no animals died in the fire, but two vehicles, a boat, an unknown number of ATVs and possibly a jet ski were destroyed.

The total value of the losses was unknown.

The 156-acre property is owned by George and Patricia Hauser of Rockton, Ill.

Kaster did not know who lived at the residence.
