No damage from flood at new Justic Center

MONROE - There was no damage following recent flooding at the new Justice Center, as its opening nears.

The flooding occurred at some point on the weekend of Aug. 8 after about three inches of rain fell in the area.

Green County Clerk Mike Doyle said there was minor flooding on the ground floor of the new building but no damage resulted.

"There was a little water in the storage area on the ground floor," Doyle said.

Doyle said there are two storm sewers near the building, one on the north side and one on the south side. There has been landscaping work done at the building recently and the storm sewers were covered with fabric to prevent dirt from running into them in the event of rain.

Because the storm sewers were covered, and the fact the rain was heavy, water went over the walls and into the building.
