NEW GLARUS — The New Glarus Board of Education met on Monday, Nov. 3 to review the results of the district’s Strategic Planning Survey as part of its ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and community engagement. After an in-depth discussion of the findings, the Board voted to adopt and reaffirm the district’s current Strategic Plan, citing strong alignment between community feedback and the district’s mission, vision, core values, and strategic goals.

The Strategic Planning Survey, which received over 650 responses from students, parents, staff, and community members, demonstrated overwhelming support for the district’s direction and priorities. Nearly 90—94% of respondents agreed or strongly agreed with the district’s existing mission, vision, and core values, which emphasize academic excellence, student growth, staff quality, and community partnership.

Key highlights from the survey include:

● Strong community alignment with the mission “Educating each student to contribute and succeed in our global community by fostering a passion for learning and the pursuit of excellence.”

● High levels of agreement with all core values, including providing a safe learning environment, recruiting and retaining high-quality staff, and fostering a culture of respect and inclusion.

● Broad support for the district’s four strategic goals, focused on student readiness, recruiting and retaining high-quality staff, quality facilities, and access for all students to educational opportunities.

Survey respondents also shared thoughtful feedback on how the district can continue to grow, emphasizing the importance of supporting the whole child, investing in staff, maintaining balance across academics, arts, and athletics, and planning for future facility needs in a fiscally responsible and proactively manner.
