MONROE - A New Glarus man faces new charges, four felonies and two misdemeanors, for allegedly making prohibited contact Monday with a woman he allegedly punched, strangulated and threatened in April.
Ricky T. Olson, 19, New Glarus, faces four Class H felony bail jumping counts and two Class B misdemeanor counts of domestic abuse-related disorderly conduct.
If convicted on all counts, he could face a prison sentence of more than 24 years, $42,000 in fines, or both.
Olson made his initial appearance in the new case via video conference Wednesday in Green County Circuit Court. Judge David Deininger set bond at $5,000, with $500 of that payable in cash. Court records indicate Olson posted $500 in cash Wednesday. He is ordered not to contact the woman, her friend or either of their residences. Court records indicate Olson has a bond hearing Monday.
The two disorderly conduct charges stem from Olson's actions Monday, when he reportedly went to the friend's residence in Monroe to pick up some clothes from the woman. She went inside before he arrived so he couldn't talk to her, her friend told police, and when the friend tried to give him his clothes, he refused to take them until he spoke with the woman. He then entered the residence and yelled at her, the friend said.
He returned later in the day, police reports indicate. He allegedly grabbed the woman by the shoulder, pushed her and kicked her truck on his way out.
Her friend called police, who arrested Olson at 10:14 p.m.
The four bail jumping charges stem from the two new crimes Olson allegedly committed, and his two prohibited contacts with the woman.
Olson was forbidden from contacting the woman following an April 13 incident in which he was arrested and jailed for allegedly physically assaulting her multiple times and threatening her at her residence in Monroe.
He signed a $5,000 signature bond April 15 that stipulates he is to have no contact with her, according to court records.
In that case, he's charged with a Class G felony count of intimidating a victim with the threat of force, two Class H felony counts of strangulation and suffocation, a Class A misdemeanor count of battery and two Class B misdemeanor counts of domestic abuse-related disorderly conduct.
If convicted on all counts in that case, he could face a prison sentence of over 23 years, $57,000 in fines, or both.
He has a pre-trial conference in both cases June 23.
