NEW GLARUS — The New Glarus School District has hired Jeff Worzella to be the next principal of New Glarus High School. Worzella was chosen after a thorough process including interviews with community members, staff, administration, students and Board members.

Worzella is currently an administrator in the Whitefish Bay School District, which consistently ranks in the Top 5 districts in the state. Specifically, he has been the Activities/Athletics Director for the past 6 years, supervising and leading over 100 sports and activities, and is a member of both the High School and District Leadership Teams. Prior to that he was a middle school teacher, teaching a variety of core subjects, and was a basketball and soccer coach, winning a state championship in each sport. He and his wife have three children, and look forward to moving to New Glarus this summer.

The high school principal position was open because, after 13 years, Dr. Jeff Eichelkraut decided to move to the open Middle School Principal/Director of Instruction position beginning July 1, 2024. This position will allow him to continue to be a principal while also broadening his knowledge and skills to curriculum, instruction, assessment, summer school, grant writing, and other areas for all grade levels 4K-12.   The New Glarus School Board approved the transfer at their Feb. 12 meeting.

The Middle School Principal/Director of Instruction position was open because Anthony Edge decided to step away from administration and resigned his position for next year due to family reasons.

“We look forward to having Jeff Worzella join our district this summer and become part of our NGSD team,” Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Thayer said. “We also appreciate Mr. Edge for his three years of service as an administrator in the district and Dr. Eichelkraut for his 13 years of service as High School Principal. We are thankful both are continuing in the district, just in different roles for the 2024-25 school year.”
