NEW GLARUS - A New Glarus man was arrested for an alleged sexual assault of a victim that occurred at a tavern in the village.

Mennen D. Borucki, 43, New Glarus, was arrested Thursday for fourth-degree attempted sexual assault and disorderly conduct after the victim reported the incident to police. The assault allegedly occurred Wednesday at a bar in the 100 block of 5th Avenue. New Glarus Police Sergeant Jeff Sturdevant said Borucki went out for drinks with the victim, who is known to him, and several others. After most of the bar patrons cleared out Borucki allegedly made advances at the victim. She pushed back at him several times before leaving. The victim reported to police the next day, who then reviewed surveillance video taped at the bar.

"They had cameras there, which is pretty damaging to him," Sturdevant said. "We reviewed the tapes and you can see her fighting back his advances."

Sturdevant said Borucki posted bond and was released and that the community need not be scared of future assaults. Borucki has yet to be formally charged in Green County Circuit Court, but Sturdevant said Borucki has a tentative court date for Oct. 27.

Fourth-degree sexual assault is a Class A misdemeanor with penalties up to $10,000 or nine months imprisonment or both.
