MONROE - There will be a new captain at the helm of the Monroe Times star-ting today, but she is a familiar face to many who read the Times.
Mary Jane Grenzow, Monroe, has been named editor, replacing Jeff Rogers who left the paper in December.
She started her stint with the Times as news editor in December 1992. Since then, she has served as systems manager and features editor. Grenzow's experiences at the Times include covering city and schools beats regularly, writing features, producing special sections and working as a general assignment reporter; she has even worked on the sports desk.
"Mary Jane's experiences at the Times, coupled with her knowledge of the Monroe community, are assets that will serve her well as she takes the lead in our news gathering operations," said Carl Hearing, Monroe Times publisher. "Her energy, enthusiasm and dedication to seeking perfection in local small-town community journalism makes Mary Jane extremely valuable to us."
Before joining the Times, she worked as a reporter in Beaver Dam and Minocqua. Grenzow has also taught technical writing, communications and oral communications at Blackhawk Technical College. A Madison native, Grenzow earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Journalism from University of Wisconsin-Madison.
She is married to John Grenzow and has three daughters and a stepson.
