MONROE - The Green County Board of Adjustment Wednesday will hold a public hearing to consider a conditional use permit for a lodging house.

Mark Elmer is requesting a permit to operate a lodging house with a sports utility vehicle, all-terrain vehicle and boat rentals at N1503 Mellenberger Road in Cadiz township.

Elmer couldn't be reached for comment.

The board will also hold a public hearing to consider a conditional use permit for Ron Fernstaedt to operate a firewood processing plant and storage business on land on the east side of Wisconsin 69 in Clarno township.

Fernstaedt said the business cuts logs into firewood which is then sold in the Chicago area. He's been cutting firewood for customers for 26 years, he said.

Fernstaedt advertises in Chicago area papers and then takes the wood to homes.

The firewood is stored outside for a year while it dries.

The board will hold public hearings for a conditional land use permits for James Donahue, for an addition to a repair shop at N9688 Wis. 69 in New Glarus township; and Moores Cemetery, located on County SS in Decatur township, for a variance to construct entrance gate posts.

The board will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27 in Yodel Hall in the Government Services Building at the Pleasant View Complex.
