The Swiss Lid Washer was just one of two patents acquired by Werner Zimmerman Sr., the late grandfather of current cheesemaker, Brian Zimmerman. The lid washer, designed to alleviate the time consuming task of

washing lids by hand, was advertised to wash and rinse 100 lids on both sides in just 15 minutes. The newly devised equipment was available for order at R. Mueller, Monroe. Werner Zimmerman Sr. also patented a milk body available in 66- and 78-can capacities, with a built-in floor whey tank.
