MONROE - The Walker Family from Branson, Mo., will put their high-energy music on display at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Monroe High School Performing Arts Center.

The Walker Family features 1950s and 1960s hits, country, traditional, bluegrass and old-time music, as well as original songs.

Brett and Apryll Walker and their seven children have played all over the U.S. for the past five years. Their journey began in 2007, when after spending about a year playing throughout Alaska, the family agreed to pursue performing their music on a full-time basis. They sold all their belongings, bought an RV, a trailer, and headed south to tour professionally. From 2008-10, they performed regularly at the Dutton Theater in Branson, earning nominations as the "Best Family Show" and "Best Instrumental Show."

Each member of the young family plays multiple instruments and provides vocals: Brett on guitar; Apryll on piano and fiddle; Kendra, 21, on lead guitar; LaRae, 19, on banjo; Alisa, 17, on mandolin; Meghan, 15, on bass; and Sean, 12, Joseph, 10, and Ammon, 8, on fiddle, mandolin and banjo.

The Walker daughters, Kendra, LaRae, Alisa and Meghan, also recently started a separate solo project, The Redhead Express, while continuing to tour and record as part of the Walker Family.

Reserved seat tickets for the Walker Family performance are $35, $25, $20 and $15, and $10 for students 18 and under. Tickets may be purchased by calling the Monroe Arts Center at (608) 325-5700 or (888) 596-1249, or in person at the box office, 1315 11th St., Monroe.
