MONROE - The Monroe Police Department revamped its website to a cleaner, leaner look with added features like an email sign-up for press releases.
According to a news release from MPD, the new-look website came online Monday with the same domain name it had before: pdmonroe.com. The website features general information pages, a frequently asked questions tab, contact information and some of the personnel at the department.
Chief of Police Fred Kelley said the biggest change is the ability for anyone to access the news releases posted daily. Users can also subscribe to have the releases emailed to them the moment they are posted.
The website also utilizes a Google map where users can hover their mouse over the City of Monroe and determine what district they are in, east, west or central district, as well as the wards they are represented by in city government.
Kelley said in the release that the website is "hoped to be a continuing asset in the department's communications to the public."
