Mount Olive pastor to give farewell sermon Sunday

MONROE - On Sunday, Pastor Don Swartz will deliver his final and farewell sermon at Mount Olive Lutheran Church.

Swartz has been a pastor within the Wisconsin Lutheran Synod for the past 40 years. He has served in the Wisconsin communities of Galesville, Holmen, Ixonia and for the past 12 years here in Monroe.

Swartz and his wife, Karen, will be moving to Whitewater for their retirement. Service time Sunday will be at 9:30 a.m. Everyone is invited to attends and bid Swartz farewell as he leaves the ministry. Mount Olive is located at 1603 16th Ave.

At a recent meeting of the Mount Olive Lutheran congregation, it was voted by the members to dissolve the Mount Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church and join with Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church of Verona for the purpose of forming one multisite congregation named Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Beginning Sept. 3, the time of service will be 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Nathan Strutz officiating. Location of the Monroe campus will remain at 1603 16th Ave.
