Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash with car

MONROE - A motorcyclist was Medflighted to Madison for injuries sustained in an accident early Sunday morning in the Town of Clarno.

Green County deputies responded to the accident at 12:46 a.m. on Wisconsin 11 near Steiner Road. A 2014 Ford Focus driven by a 33-year-old woman from Monroe was traveling eastbound on Wis. 11 when the vehicle appeared to have crossed the center line, colliding with a 2009 Suzuki motorcycle operated by a 26-year-old man from Warren, according to a news release from the Green County Sheriff's Department.

The motorcyclist was ejected. The motorcycle left the road and came to rest on the north shoulder of the highway. The Focus continued eastbound, exiting the roadway, and also came to rest in the north ditch.

The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported to Monroe Clinic Hospital where he was later flown to the University of Wisconsin Hospital for continued treatment. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The vehicle operator sustained injuries and was transported by EMS to Monroe Clinic Hospital for evaluation.

The Green County Detectives Division and the Wisconsin State Patrol crash reconstruction team assisted at the scene with the investigation. The Green County Highway Department also assisted as Wis. 11 was closed for about 5 1/2 hours for the initial investigation.

The operator's names are being withheld pending additional investigation. Charges are also pending further investigation.

Monroe Fire Department and Green County EMS also responded to the crash.
