Mother's Day plant sale starts today

MONROE - Green Haven Family Advocates will host its 20th annual Mother's Day Plant Sale today and Saturday, May 12. Hanging baskets and potted plants will be available at First National Bank in Monroe; the Village Hall in Monticello; Roy's Market in New Glarus; and the Mini Mart in Albany. Hours of the sale are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The selections of hanging baskets feature geraniums, begonias, impatiens, fuschia and Wave petunias. Potted plants offered include geraniums, begonias, mums, New Guinea impatiens, Wave petunias and a variety of perennials. All plants are provided locally from Ahrens Acres.

Green Haven Family Advocates is a nonprofit organization, serving families that have been affected by family violence throughout Green County. In 2011, it provided services to more than 506 individual women, men and children and received more than 1600 crisis calls on the 24-hour crisis line. Profits from the sale help to continue advocacy through programs including teen and child prevention, support groups, legal advocacy and crisis intervention.
