MONROE — As Monroe Clinic marked one year in its new Medical Office Building on June 10, additional construction projects continue to be underway to complete the Monroe Clinic campus renovation.
Beginning June 15, initial work began on the take-down of the skywalk currently connecting the new Medical Office Building to the St. Clare Center, and will continue for the next few weeks. Completion of the skywalk removal is set to occur by mid-July. The demolition of the skywalk will allow the current clinic and hospital parking lots to connect, resulting in improved traffic flow and increased ease of navigation for patients, planned for completion prior to winter.
After the skywalk comes down, the demolition process of the St. Clare Center will also be underway, with some preliminary steps already complete. The projected timeline for the St. Clare Center demolition is expected to be complete by late fall. The space where the St. Clare Center currently stands will be turned into patient parking, with an expected completion in late spring 2021.
Monroe Clinic has partnered with experts in the demolition and construction industries to ensure safe and high-quality processes and results. Residents in the surrounding area of the Monroe Clinic campus may hear a minor increase in noise as some of the construction gets underway, but any potential impact is expected to be minimal.
