MONTICELLO - A Monticello man with a history of drunken belligerence was sentenced in late October and early November in numerous cases in Green and Lafayette counties after revoking his probation on some and pleading no contest in others.

Randall Scott Zuber, 39, is ordered to serve three years on probation and a year in jail, with conditions that he maintain absolute sobriety and undergo all recommended counseling and treatment.

His convictions include a Class H felony charge of threat or battery to a law enforcement officer, felony and misdemeanor bail jumping, Class A misdemeanor counts of theft, criminal damage to property, taking and driving a car without consent and resisting/obstructing an officer and Class B misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct, as well as several non-criminal citations for disorderly conduct and entering a dwelling without consent.

The cases all stem from incidents within the past year, most recently an altercation with police Sept. 7 outside a Monroe tavern as he was being arrested on multiple warrants.

Zuber was reportedly intoxicated, refused to obey police demands and told an officer, "I'll bite your head off." When police took him to Monroe Clinic for medical clearance for jail, he continued to be uncooperative and spit on an officer and on medical staff.

Many of the incidents earlier this year were also alcohol-fueled, according to court records.

On March 8, at a residence in the Town of Clarno, Zuber became combative when a woman refused to give him alcohol or pharmaceutical drugs. He grabbed her phone forcefully as she tried to call 911, causing it to hit her lip.

On March 30, he swore at staff at a Monroe church after they asked him to leave. Police arrived to find him crying and intoxicated on two bottles of vodka. During his arrest, he was resistive and tried to bite an officer.

On April 13, he was kicked out of a Monroe apartment complex for being drunk and belligerent.

On April 20, staff at Monroe Public Library called police to remove Zuber, who was so inebriated he slurred his speech and staggered. During his arrest, he alternated between swearing loudly and crying remorsefully. When he started spitting inside the police squad car, officers put a "spit hood" over his head.

On May 10, police were called after he showed up unannounced and unwanted at his child's mother's home in Monticello.
