Tavern in the basement of the Monticello House hotel, also known as the Casino, circa 1932. There are no whiskey or wine bottles on the back bar and no beer signs - only soft drinks. There is a sign on the cash register: "Repeal & Roosevelt." Prohibition was repealed after Roosevelt was elected in 1933. The tavern had an outside entrance from Main Street. After prohibition was repealed, Otto Wyss built another bar on the main floor. Ernie Moritz leased the basement tavern from 1934 until his death in 1942.
