A car on fire destroyed a garage at a Monticello home on Tuesday, June 10. Several area agencies responded at about 1:15 p.m. to the scene to extinguish the fire, located on South Monroe Street. A MABAS box alarm was called, involving Belleville Fire, New Glarus Fire, Juda Fire, Brodhead Fire District and Green County EMS at the site. Green County Sheriff’s Office was put in charge of traffic control. According to Monticello Fire Chief Jason Eyler, the garage was a total loss. There were no reported injuries as of press time.
