MONROE - Two groups of Monroe Youth in Government representatives were recognized at the Monroe City Council meeting May 2.

The outgoing 2016-17 representatives were thanked and received a proclamation from the City of Monroe for their participation in the program while the incoming 2017-18 representatives were announced and publicly recognized for their acceptance into the program.

Outgoing representatives shared their feelings about the Monroe Youth in Government program. The 2016-17 participants were Nicholas Baumann, Lillian Edwards, Samuel Nicholson, Nathan Smith, Linnea Tabaka and Andrew Wheat.

The 2017-18 Monroe Youth in Government participants are Aidan Lambert, Cael Losenegger, Luke Nicholson, Francisco Ocampo and Rebekah Rath.
