MONROE - A Monroe woman is facing multiple felony charges after she allegedly stabbed her husband and left him helpless for hours on their kitchen floor earlier this month.

The victim went to Monroe Clinic's emergency room on Dec. 5 with a chest wound. He told a police officer he accidentally stabbed himself the previous evening after tripping on a toy and falling while slicing an apple for his 22-month-old daughter.

His wife, Shannon Golackson, 27, backed up his account.

On Dec. 17, he called police from the Monroe Clinic to retract his story and accuse her of stabbing him. According to details from a criminal complaint filed in Green County Court two days later, the couple started arguing on Dec. 4 over where he had watched that afternoon's Green Bay Packers game.

In the course of the argument, Golackson reportedly threw a knife at him, damaging his jacket, then stabbed him in the upper chest with a steak knife, deep enough that the blade pierced his lung.

Golackson threatened to "finish him off if he did not agree to a cover story" and wouldn't let him use a phone, the complaint alleges, then she left him lying on the floor and went to bed. He said he couldn't get up and remained on the floor for more than eight hours.

The following morning, he said he convinced her to drive him to the Monroe Clinic, where they agreed on a cover story. In the days after, the victim said his wife laundered the clothing he wore when the alleged stabbing occurred. She then moved out of their home, taking their toddler daughter with her, according to the criminal complaint.

Golackson is charged with aggravated battery, intimidation of a victim and false imprisonment. She faces up to 36 years in prison and $85,000 in fines. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 31.

She has been released on a $5,000 signature bond, on the condition that she have no contact with the victim, except for exchange of their daughter during visitation as approved by the court, and no possession or consumption of intoxicants or controlled substances and no possession of dangerous weapons. She also isn't allowed in the home where the alleged crime took place.

Golackson filed for divorce from her husband on Dec. 16.
